Disk Transfer

Monitoring disk transfer rates is essential for assessing the performance and efficiency of your storage resources. This section provides guidance on how to access, interpret, and analyze disk transfer metrics.

Accessing Disk Transfer Metrics

To view disk transfer data for your cloud resources, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Monitoring Dashboard:

    • Log in to your cloud platform.
    • Go to the Monitoring section from the main menu.
    • Select Disk Transfer from the list of available metrics.
  2. Set the Time Range:

    • Utilize the Range buttons (1h, 8h, 1d, 1w, 1m, 3m) to specify the time frame for your analysis.
    • For a custom range, choose the desired From and To dates.

Understanding Disk Transfer Graph

The disk transfer graph visually represents the amount of data read from and written to the disk over the selected time period.

  • Y-axis: Indicates disk transfer rates in MB/s.
  • X-axis: Displays the timeline of the selected range.

Interpreting the Graph

  • Monitor the graph for trends and fluctuations in disk transfer activity to identify periods of increased usage.
  • Significant spikes may indicate high data transfer demands, affecting application performance.

Disk Transfer Statistics Overview

In addition to the graphical representation, the statistics table provides detailed metrics on disk transfer:

MetricMinimumMaximumTotal
Disk Read MB Total0.00 MB/s0.95 MB/s1.50 MB/s
Disk Write MB Total0.00 MB/s3.13 MB/s3192.21 MB/s
Disk #1 Read MB0.00 MB/s0.95 MB/s1.50 MB/s
Disk #1 Write MB0.00 MB/s3.13 MB/s3192.21 MB/s

Note: Statistics data is based on 1-minute average aggregated samples.

Analyzing Disk Transfer Performance

  • Minimum: The lowest recorded disk transfer rate during the specified period.
  • Maximum: The peak disk transfer rate, indicating the highest demand.
  • Total: The cumulative amount of data transferred during the selected timeframe.

Best Practices for Monitoring Disk Transfer

  • Regular Reviews: Frequently check disk transfer trends to proactively manage storage performance and capacity.
  • Investigate Spikes: Look into any significant increases in disk transfer rates to identify potential bottlenecks or high-demand applications.
  • Resource Allocation: Adjust disk configurations or storage plans based on observed transfer patterns to optimize performance.
